Pay per view Line Dance Videos
are no longer going to let us view their new dance videos unless you pay to do so at LINELESSONS.com. This subject has been widely discussed
Not only that, they are also contacting other groups and asking them to take down their videos. While choreographers have the right to market their videos through LineLessons, does that mean they also have the right to halt production of videos by everyone else? How are they going to monitor that? . Who defines or determines what is "allowed" by others who put up videos?
From what I've read, it seems that not many are going to pay for the videos and prefer to do dances that are free.

Yipee!
That's right. The web hosting company has terminated Yipee Website without warning, due to heavy traffic, causing overload.
The good news is Yipee maybe down, but not out. The webmaster(s) are working on it, either changing web host or upgrading it, and may take up to a week.
Most of us are relying so much on Yipee, so it's no wonder that this downtime is upsetting so many line dancers, not only in our region, but all over the world as well.
Thank you, Peter & Ee Lin for all the fantastic work.

Easter Charity Jam
The Diners
A big thank you to all the supporters, donors, Wendy & friends for a great 'Bomshel Stomp' demo and the 'Grass-hoppers' :)) (as opposed to hip-hoppers) for their demo of 'Sexy Can I'.
We did 60 dances +. When it was announced that 2 requests - Rah rah ooh la la and No Salvation will be played you can hear the dancers' glee of 'YEH'!
We're so glad that line dance friends from various groups came to support - (in no particular order) -Botanical Gdns, Equaline, Dos, Tmn Sri Nibong, Goldcoast, Stardust, Diamond Villa, McCallum, Sri York, Japanese Gdn, PCSC,CRC, Chin Woo. Sorry if I miss out any groups - just make a note in the comments, so that I can include you.
Watch out this space for more pictures to come.

And the WINNER IS........
Our team was a joint effort of DOS, Twinklesixers and Stardust. 1st Runner-up we may be, but we are all very happy with it. After all, our main purpose was to attend Cato's workshop, the competition was a by-the-by, after much cajoling from Evelyn & Margaret.
When we learned that Celeste would be entering a team, we knew that to win would be tough if not miraculous. To start off, she had a bunch of teenagers, we were a bunch of 30+ to 50+. Ha! Ha! Celeste's choreography was pretty awesome - it was a sure-win, even her 'curtain-call' bow looked dramatically choreographed. And yes, that's right, the 2 teams from Penang, swiped the top 2 positions. How about that?
Nevertheless, we trained hard for the past 3 weeks which I've never ever done before for any performance or competition. Every morning I woke up with body aches from head to toe. We had to literally break, bend, twist, mould the usually mild line dancers in order to do the highly-energised, unfamiliar, never-done-before, street-jazz type of dance steps. From the reaction and enthusiasm of the audience, I believe we gave a lovable, entertaining performance.
Thanks to all the team members, Evelyn, MayWah, Eddie, Wendy, Bee Kim, Ai Leng, Penny, Jacey, Vivien, Joanne and also Kai Beng (choreographer) for the great co-operation, never-say-die attitude, patience, putting up with all the squables, effort... the list goes on.. Thanks to Annie, Shirley & Maggie for helping out. Thanks also to all the husbands & family for bearing with us, putting up with fast food & economy rice for the past few weeks. And thank you, my dear husband for driving us down to KL and taking us around (especially after hardly having time to even talk to him for the last couple of wks). You should see the faces of people when we - 8 of us girls with stage (very 'tang') make-up, complete with dramatic false eyelashes, with the lone male, went to Jalan Alor for 'tai lok meen' after the Big Bash. I could see them 'thumb & finger to chin' wondering ... hmmmmm!!! Hee! Hee! Very funny!!
Pictures to come later, after I recover from a sprained knee ligament, twisted muscle at the waist, arthritic knees, overstretched neck muscles and a sprained thumb. That's right, thumb, you wonder?

Christmas Fantasy 2008
It was a ho ho ho jolly good time on Sat. 20 Dec at YMCA hall. Food was scrumptious. The performances were captivating.
The opening dance led by Evelyn was a real opener with the dancers flashing out to "What A Feeling" from the movie Flash Dance. Jennifer Beal (actress in the movie) couldn't have done better. The Bellied Dancers led by May Wah mesmerized everyone with their bellies! The Sheikh brought his harem of 4 from Istanbul (not Constantinople) & let them loose. Mr.Lim PH (Latin Ballroom Dance Instructor) & partner, Shirley performed the rhumba, cha cha, tango & paso doble. The Fantasy Medley by Celeste, Wendy & the Dos dancers was dazzling - ranging from jazz to pop.
'Mary Poppins' & the 'Pirate' (from the Caribbean or Somali?) captured the prizes for best costume.
There was keen competition in the games especially the tennis ball game.
Almost everyone was on the floor most of the time - dancing like there was no tomorrow.
We take this opportunity to thank all those who came for their support without which we would not have been able to make a donation of RM 1,700.00 to St. Joseph's Orphanage.

Penang Line Dance Carnival 2008 - Report
This year, to enter the Arena, you have to walk a big round, passing many stalls, selling mostly beauty-related products. There were body-enhancing undergarments, slimming aid, beauty supplements, cosmetics, beauty salons, manicures, etc. Unfortunately, my nails just got snagged, otherwise I would have gone for a RM15- professional manicure. Hmmm! Are they trying to send us, line dancers a message??
The carnival ran smoothly and on schedule. Everybody seems to be having a great time. Surprisingly, the guest-of-honour, YB Lydia Ong who officiated the opening ceremony stayed on till the performances in the late afternoon. I think I left even before her. Of course there were hiccups here & there - give the feedback to Ms Jean Yeoh - so that they can do a better job next year. Better still, volunteer for the job.
When the Beijing team realised that I am the one who choreographed TATToo (which they said they like very much), they all wanted to take pictures with me. I felt like a star - a little one lah, posing with each & everyone of them. We were like duck & chicken - I no speak Mandarin, they no speak English. Luckily Vivien was around to help out. Thanks Vivien.
It was nice to meet up with fellow line dancers again. To name a few - Yeoh (BM), Kenny (T'ping), Sue (SP), Judy Teh (Jubilants), Mr Ong(Japanese Gdn). And it was great to meet EeLin & Peter of Yipee!
Kudos to Ms Jean Yeoh for doing a fantastic job! And Congratulations to PSLDA for a successful carnival!
Here are the photos I took.
If you wish to download any of the photos, you can do so from this photo album.

The Makan - so cheap, RM7.50 each person
